5. - ARTICHOKE HEART - (1997) - For years, I told patients that much healing is like peeling off the layers of an onion. One day a lady said that's no good for when you get to the center there's nothing there and you've cried the whole time. By the time I drove home later i had the chorus to this song that even my mother admitted was "very funny".

10. -.OXYMORONS IN YOUR FACE - (1998) - I wrote this for my late son Daniel when he was eight years old after he asked me to write a song for him. Richard Hardy of the early Dave Matthews Band blazes on the saxophone. This song gets a big kick from the exemplary sound effects of Tim Jessup.
11. - SWEETEST DREAMS BE THINE - (1970's) - My Uncle Jim wrote this beautiful Jewish Christmas song when he said he was "in a funny mood". I sang this song Acapella at my uncle's memorial service in N.Y.C. and Sheldon Harnick of Fiddler On The Roof came up to me afterward and said that I have an almost perfect E and that he liked how I drew out the last sylabbles even though that was not how my uncle wrote it and he reminded me what a stickler he was and then added that Jim probably liked it. This recording is tonally graced with the voice of Sarah West.
12. - HAVE YOU HEARD A TREE - ( 1976) - I wrote this way back when I first lived in the north woods of Maine. Richard Hardy on Flutes. Light and sweet.
